Have any of yoo ever bin to Brighton? Thare's a bilding thare called the Brighton Royal Pavilyun and it is vary pritty. Heer is its history, frum Wikipedia:

The Prince Regent, who later became King George IV, first visited Brighton in 1783, as his physician advised him that the seawater would be beneficial for his gout. In 1786 he rented a farmhouse in the Old Steine area of Brighton. Being remote from the Royal Court in London, the Pavilion was also a discreet location for the Prince to enjoy liaisons with his long-time companion, Mrs Fitzherbert. The Prince had wished to marry her, and may have done so secretly; however this was illegal owing to her Catholic religion.

Henry Holland was soon employed to enlarge the building. The Prince also purchased land surrounding the property, on which a grand riding school and stables were built in an Indian style in 1803, to designs by William Porden.

Between 1815 and 1822 the designer John Nash redesigned the palace, and it is the work of Nash which can be seen today. The palace looks rather striking in the middle of Brighton, having a very Indian appearance on the outside. However, the fanciful interior design, primarily by Frederick Crace and Robert Jones, is heavily influenced by both Chinese and Indian fashion (with Mughal and Islamic architectural elements). It is a prime example of the exoticism that was an alternative to more classicising mainstream taste in the Regency style.

The Pavilion and its grounds served as one of the settings for the 1970 film On a Clear Day You Can See Forever.

Happy Ending at Best Friends

Yoo know, if yoo stuck big veiny ears on a 'possum, he'd look an awful lot like me. That's why I watch them so carefully win they come in owr bakyard to eet.

So I wuz intristed in this storey I red at Best Frends today. They had a contest to name a new pare of 'possums that live thare now. I enterd the names "Skeezix and Daisy," but I didn't win. That's ok. They got a grate pare of names: Felix and Oscar. We reely love that part in the moovey win Oscar and Felix are fiting and Oscar tells Felix to reemove the spagetti frum his poker table, and Felix mockingly tells Oscar that its not spagetti, it's "lingwinni," and then Oscar throes the plate of pasta all over the kichen wall and says, "Now it's garbage." Man, that krakt me up.

Anyway, heer's Felix and Oscar's storey. I think yoo will like it:

Thanks to a barrage of suggestions from our Web site readers, two opossums recently admitted into Wild Friends, Best Friends’ wildlife education and rehabilitation center, now have names.

The marsupial pair has officially been named Felix and Oscar.

When we first reported on the opossums, we asked readers for some ideas on what to name the two. The response was overwhelming.

Three hundred people responded with 400 great names, such as Hagrid and Dumbledore, Opi-one and Kan-opi, Pericles and Euclid, and Mars and Soupy Al (wonderfully clever for two marsupials). Three people who wrote in—Amanda Kadas, Shari Vazquez, and one anonymous e-mailer—pitched Felix and Oscar.

Staff at Wild Friends chose the names not necessarily because the two remind them of the “The Odd Couple,” but because they seemed to best fit the two males.

There are, however, some similarities between the two “The Odd Couple” characters and the two opossums. Like his human counterpart, Felix the marsupial is fastidious. He prefers his mushrooms brown-buttoned, and scoffs if they happen to be white-buttoned. He accepts his food gently, often using his mealtime as an occasion to socialize.

Though Oscar the opossum isn’t as grouchy as Oscar the sportswriter, he is a bit uncouth, and not nearly as finicky as Felix. Oscar will consume just about anything offered him, and takes it with ravenous abandonment. After wolfing down the food from his own bowl, Oscar often raids Felix’s bowl. After he’s eaten, he conks out.

Felix and Oscar came to Best Friends from the St. George, Utah area, where state wildlife officials found them at a wildlife reserve, having been obviously abandoned by someone who had tried to raise them. They are part of Wild Friends’ education program, which means you can meet the two opossums on a tour of the center, offered daily at 10:15 a.m.

Wisker Wenzday

Yoo mite need to klik to biggify.... as yoo may or mayn't know, I have bin trying to grow dark manly wiskers like my idol, da grate Ted Rheingold. The last time I saw him (win I got my purrforminse review), thare was hare hare evryware. He got his many dark manly wiskers win he wint on vaykayshun.

As yoo also may or mayn't know, I can't go on vaycayshun to grow dark manly wiskers cuz we don't have vary many munneys at owr howse rite now. So I have to try to grow my dark manly wiskers during a STAYkayshun wich is the kind of vaykayshun that peeple on unemploymint go on.

I hardly notist anything at ferst, altho my speshul frend Daisy was kind enuf to point owt that she thot sum wiskers were growin in. She's vary nice that way.

And then, THE MOST AMAYZING THING happend!!! The FL took this pikcher of me and Mr TF chillaxin, and whaddya know??? I think I have sum dark manly wiskers growin under my chin!!!!!! (um, yoo mite need to biggify).

This is a Feline Fashionista Original, deezined by Skeezix the Cat.

This is a "Poser," wich is an owtfit deezined for cats to poze in win they are being fotographed. The cat is fotographed frum the frunt, so it looks like he's waring a kyoot owtfit, but it's a faux-owtfit. It is fastened behind the nek and midsection, and is vary litewate, so most cats don't mind waring them.

The "vest" is made of a festive pink-blue-black print. The cumberbund and bottum strap are made of a coordinating pink-blue soft flannel fabrik, and THREE matching ties are inklooded: 1) a Hot Pink print; 2) a stripey black-blue-pink print and 3) a black and wite pokka dot print. The ties affix with velcro. The cumberbund is aksented with wite and pink eyelet trim. Three kyoot hart buttons dekerate the "shert."

Posers are not intended fur evryday ware, and shood never be worn withowt supervizhun.

Well, it's that time of yeer agin: less than six weeks until the Nashunul Spellin Bee wich means I need to start studying with my spellin coach Jeter Harris.

Jete has me on a rigeruss skedule. He is making me lern to spell at leest ten werds a week so that I'll be prepared for the kontest. PHEW! That's a LOT of werds to lern. And that's not all! Heer are all the other things I need to do to git reddy for this yeer's Spellin Bee:

1. Rite to the grate Jacques Bailly and sugjest that they let the cumpetiters ware PINK polo sherts insted of wite ones. Wite is B-O-R-I-N-G.
   
2. Memerize all the spellin triks like "F" sownds gitting spelt with "PH". Wich makes me a Pheline Phashunista. Wich makes no lojikul sense. But that's the way they do it at the Nashunul Spellin Bee.
3. Suk up to Antie Bee cuz I think the Nashunul Spellin Bee wuz named after her. Maybe I shood send her sum more Skeezy swag (it's not krap!)
   

4. Watch the old Spellin Bees over and over and over agin so that I can lern frum the masters like Evan O'Dorney and Sameer Mishra.
   
5. Git a booster seet for my spellin coach Jeter Harris. Cuz last yeer, it was hard to see him in the audiense, so he coodn't send me signuls on how to spell the werds rite.
6. Ask da grate Ted Rheingold fur time off frum my Cat's Meow job so that I can attend the Nashunul Spellin Bee. See if the FL will cover for me.
   
7. Dust off the VISA card and go shoppin on the innernets fur a kyoot owtfit to ware.
8. Make a list of all the cats I need to invite to my viktery pawty.
9. Lern greek werds like toga.
10. Praktiss not wetting my pants win the Press asks me qweschuns after I win.
11. Praktiss not krying after the buzzer sownds and I git kikt owt of the ternamint.
12. Step up my efferts to grow dark manly wiskers so that I will have a hansum beerd just like DGTR in time fur the Spellin Bee.
13. Rite to the orgunizers of the Nashunul Spellin Bee and make shur they have a litter box just offstage fur me to use. So thare won't be an imberrissin "sqwerts aksident" like last yeer.

Whut I did on Easter Sunday

Win the FL and Mr TF got home frum cherch, Mr TF took me on a walk so I cood patrol the bakyard ware the forest starts. I have not patrolled the bakyard fur a long time. It looks like the Food Lady needs to do sum weeding!


The FL made a byooootiful Easter cake fur Easter dinner. It looked igzaktly like an Easter basket. BUT WARE ARE THE PINK PEEPS??? It's just not Easter withowt pink PEEPS.

After we ate our Easter Dinner, we all laid down to do sum digesting with Mr TF.

It was a good Easter.

Cats Need Adoption -- We Can Arrange Transport

There's a family on Catster I've known several years who runs an informal rescue operation in Tennessee. The Mom (appropriately named "Cat") is amazing. She takes in rejects and nurses them back to health, gets them spayed and neutered, then tries to adopt them out. A few years ago, she was registered as a rescue org, but when they moved to their current location, she didn't re-submit the paperwork. This is NOT a hoarding situation. They have sufficient acreage so all the cats are comfortable and happy and have the best possible care, and she adopts out as many of her charges as she can. In this economic climate, though, the number of cats getting dumped on her doorstep far exceeds the number she can place in furrever homes.

A few months ago, a perfect storm of circumstances made it impossible for Cat to continue. Her husband has a serious health problem which requires a lot of her time, attention and money. They've lost half their retirement, so their income has taken a nosedive, and a job she had counted on getting vaporized with a hiring freeze. Cat adoptions are at a standstill.

Catster friends of this Catster family have rallied to help. A Catster group was formed to promote adoptions and organize a Catster railroad if needed.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

• Buy cat products from Cat on Etsy. She sells kitty tents, greeting cards, boogie mats and related items to raise money for the cats.
• Volunteer to drive a leg of the Catster railroad to transport adopted cats to their new homes. Even a 100-mile segment anywhere in the U.S. will help.

	Robert Tail 7 yrs old, Male, 15 lbs. I love all my brothers and sisters inside and outside. I'm very perky and love it when we have visitors. I like to offer my butt to all my human friends, just don't mess with my stub tail!
	Gabby 1 yr old, Female, 5 lbs and gaining Gabby just strolled up climbing through the fence asking to be fed. She acted like she was sent here! She's starved, skinny as a rail, poor baby!
	Buster 2 yrs. old, Male, 15 lbs. One day I just showed up! I was just sitting by the little fish pond watching the fishies play when Meowmy decided to to pick up Mickey then she realized it was me! Meowmy thinks I was somebody's baby then I grew up and they didn't want me anymore. I LOVE to snuggle. Meowmy thinks I was put in a box or something to be dumped out because I won't go inside anything, not a bed, box anything. And I'm very nervous of noises that pop (like a BB gun). I'm meowmy's boy, follow her around like a puppy...ugh did I just say that?? MOL I love to kiss, snuggle and play!
	Smidget 6 yrs old, Female, 14 lbs. One day when I was a tiny kitty, I was walking along looking at the beautiful butterflies. Well I wandered too far and there I was in the middle of the road and there were cars coming from both directions! Yikes!! All of a sudden a people came running from no where and scooped me up in her arms and took me out of the road! I was tiny and had no place to go, so I went home with her. I thought I had a furrever home. For a year and a half I had a purrfect life, and I did everything with my Meowmy. Then my dad said my Meowmy could either have me or a baby. So that Meowmy got ridded of me. It was a very sad time for me and I was very depressed, lost most of my hair and didn't want anybody to touch me. The vet said I was physically fine, it was my nerves and stress of losing my home. It's been a couple of years now, I'm all better, but I still am sad. Please don't take a kitty home and love it if you can't keep it forever...trust me it hurts VERY bad.
	Belle 3 yrs old, Female, 9 lbs. I was in a ditch crying my heart out. I was a baby, only 6 weeks old. I was scared and all alone! My daddy came along, picked me up and took me took me to mommy. Oh she gave me the bestest food!!!! I got fat and sassy really quick!
	Casey 6 yrs old, Male, 16 lbs. I was in a sawbriar patch and couldn't get out! A mean person dumped me and I didn't know any better than to run into the briar patch. The man that owned the car lot close to where I was called mommy and daddy. They brought food, really good smelly food and put it in a trap. I went right in! I was so hungry I didn't even notice I was trapped. I have a good home now! My eyes were very scratched from the briars, I still have scars... I'm a big stout boy now though!
	Pixie 4 yrs old, Female, 9 lbs. Hi, I was a rescue...and you know I'm so cute a lot of people came to adopt me. BUT I didn't want to go, I decided to stay with meowmy and dadddy. I like to stand at the door and scream, weeeyou, weeeeeeeyoooouuuu! I want in, I want out, I want in, I want out!!! TOO FUN!!
	Smudge 3 yrs. old, Male, 10 lbs. I was wandering around trying to find somebody to love me...every house I stopped at ran me off. I got to where I was afraid of people because they were so mean to me. Well there I was one day wandering around and I went through a fence because I smelled food, and LOTS of other cats. They didn't take too kindly to me at first but slowly I worked my way into their house and into their food bowls. But oops here came a person! I ran and hid in the barn, but guess what this person put food out for me! Hmmm slowly I let this person get closer and closer. She seemed Ok, all the other cats loved her. I finally gave in after about a month and let her touch me. WOW was that nice!! I crawled into her arms and she petted me, and brushed me. She even took me into the house! Now you couldn't run me off! I'm home!!!
	Tybalt 2 yrs. old, Male, 10 lbs. One day my brother and me found ourselves dumped out in the parking lot of the Piggly Wiggly. We were running and running, cars were everywhere! We saw people and tried to get out of the way but we are so little that we just got tired, sat down and started panting. It was soooo hot! We were so scared. Then we saw a lady walking our way, she kept saying kitty, kitty, kitty. We stopped for a minute and she grabbed us up and put us in her car. She took us home and gave us a room all our own, with lots of food and she petted us too. We got to meet some other cats a few days later and they are cool! Especially Robert Tail! The other cats told us that the lady that found us is now our mom, we like that she's nice! Now we have a home!
	Rosie 8 yrs. old, Female, 14 lbs. My brother and sisters were born in a garage in a subdivision in Marietta Georgia. We had fun but there were lots of cars around. My mom was like me she has 6 toes on each foot too! I've had trouble with mine some the claws turn under and grow into my paw, then the vet has to cut them out. It hurts when they start to grow in, but the vet took out the bad nails now and they haven't given me trouble in over a year! My other sisters and brother got other forever homes but I got to stay with my mom C.C. My brother Tigger and I were VERY close. He got a new furever home, and I've been sort of depressed since he left. My meowmy is sad that she let him go to another home now, she didn't realize how attached to each other we were.
	Bugsie 4 yrs. old, Female Me and my brother lost our mommy before our eyes were opened. We were under a house starving...luckily a nice couple found us and took us the my new mommy. My new mommy bottle fed me and my brother with another litter that lost their mommy. I love my new mommy!!! I LOVED my bottle!! My brother Crackers got a new forever home, but I stayed with mommy and daddy. I'm just a little love, I walk up and fall over, FLOP in your lap! Just like a noodle! And I run like the wind!!!
	Snoop Kitty Kat 5 yrs. old, Male, 10 lbs. Me and my brother Pixel came from the same place that Teal'c and Bratak came from, the goat farm. The lady brought us to meowmy when we were about 5 months old. My brother depended on me for everything, so I never left his side. Mommy would only let us get adopted together and we did get adopted. BUT about a year and a half later our new daddy decided to get married and move to a new house. His lady friend wanted nothing to do with us...our daddy chose her over us... He brought us to a whole new place in Tennessee, our first meowy had moved but took us back and gave us this forever home
	Marquessa 5 yrs. old, Female, 9 lbs. My sister and brother and me all were born away from people, we were VERY afraid of people at first. A lady coaxed us to her with good smelling food. My brother had a bob tail and my sister had a long tail and they both had long beautiful black hair...well I have short hair with beautiful silver stripes and a half tail with a crick in the end! I'M SPECIAL! My brother and sister went to their forever homes, and I did too. But my new mommy had an awful car crash and got hurt really bad. I was a tiny girl and very hyper, when my mommy started walking on her walker I almost tripped her up several times so I had to go back to my first mommy. My new mommy said she would want me back when she was able to walk again...that was a long time ago...I never heard from her again...
